UK Resettlement Scheme reopens for new referrals
The UK Resettlement Scheme has reopened for new referrals, with Afghan women and girls and Palestinian refugees expected to make up around one quarter of referrals combined.

The Home Office announced on 28 September 2026 that the UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) has reopened for new referrals. Around one in four referrals is expected to be for Afghan women and girls and Palestinian refugees combined.
Referrals are expected to be made through established processes in partnership with UNHCR and the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP). The announcement does not create a public self-application form for individuals.
The first arrivals following the reopening are expected before the end of 2026. Anyone affected should rely on current official guidance and recognised referral organisations for the latest process.
